So how does it all work?
I come to you, to your home or holiday accommodation, with my pop-up tent and the whole process takes around 15 minutes, no mess, no fuss!
At the time of your appointment, I will give you a colour consultation to decide the best shade of tanned for you personally. Naked Tan comes in 5 colours - Natural, Medium, Exotic, Tanned & Alpha Male (a sandalwood scented, ash bronze for the boys).
I will explain after-care at your appointment and to achieve the best results, you should do hair removal at least 12 hours prior & exfoliate in the shower in the lead up to your appointment. Immediately prior to your tan, you should shower.
Absolutely NO MOISTURISER or DEODORANT for your spray tan appointment.
For specific skin conditions, for example dry, acne-prone or skin with enlarged pores, please mention this to me when you make your booking and we can run through the requirements.
I will ensure that you have no nasty 'fake tan giveaways' on your feet, knees or hands.
With Naked tan, you can shower after only 2 hours and once showered your tan will continue to develop for a further 8-12 hours into a beautiful, natural colour.
With Tuscan Tan, you wait 8 hours for the original colour or just 90 MINUTES for the Rapid-Amino formula before showering. Tuscan Tan is only available by prior arrangement.
The first shower for both products should be rinse-only with water, no soap or body wash. Pat dry and be aware that you may go a shade lighter (as you have washed off the bronzer, which is a top coat only), but your tan will deepen as it fully develops in the following 12 hours or so.
THE 7 DEADLY SINS OF TANNING!
We all know the MUST DO to ensure a timeless long lasting tan - moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!
Now here’s the 7 deadly sins of WHAT NOT TO DO:
- Bare skin absorbs a spray tan best. NEVER have oils or oil base product on the skin, as this will create a barrier and the skin will be unable to absorb the tan.
- NO waxing/shaving after the spray tan, as this will remove not just the hair, but the tan too.
- AVOID long soaks in the bath tub - quick showers are best with an SLS FREE body cleanser. (I recommend Naked Tan Organic Goddess Cleanser or Tuscan Tan Body Wash - these are specifically formulated for cleansing the skin without removing the tan). Soaking in water will loosen skin cells and, as the tan sits on the top layer of the skin, these skin cells will naturally be sluffed away.
- DON’T get wet while developing your tan. With Tuscan Tan, you cannot go out and play in the rain for at least 8 hrs after application, however with Naked Tan, you can be dancing in the rain in no time (just 2 hours later)!
- DON’T leave your nails unpolished. Wear nail polish on your fingers & toes if regularly tanning to protect them and avoid discolouration.
- DON’T exfoliate with mitts or exfoliant creams while your spray tan is looking fabulous & even. Only ever exfoliate the day before your tanning appointment to prepare the skin.
- Lastly, and most importantly, DON’T neglect your tan. Moisturise regularly to hydrate your skin with a hydrating moisturiser to ensure longevity. (I recommend Naked Tan Organic crème de la crème or Tuscan Tan Tinted Tan Extender).
1. Will I go orange?
Absolutely not! I will colour match the tan solution to your skin. A more natural sun kissed look can be achieved or you can obtain a darker tan similar to one achieved when on a tropical holiday. The choice is yours.
2. Does the developing process continue after I have a shower?
With Naked Tan, yes, you have the convenience of showering only 2 hours after your spray tan. You will continue to develop a deeper, darker tan long after you have showered. So now you can shower and your tan won’t be affected, in actual fact it will continue developing even up to 24hrs after your initial shower in some cases.
3. Is spray tanning safe?
Yes, spray tanning is the safe alternative to obtaining a gorgeous tan. It is UVB/UVA free and does not damage or age the skin. As the skin cells naturally exfoliate off, so does the tan.
4. I have sensitive skin, can I still be sprayed?
Naked Tan natural botanical tan contains NO HARSH CHEMICALS, NO ALCOHOL, NO PARABENS and can be used by clients with sensitive skin types. A patch test can also be done.
5. How long does it take to be sprayed?
A tan is complete within 10-15 minutes!
With Naked Tan natural sunless tan solution you can shower as little as 2HRS after your tan. That’s amazingly exciting news for the indulgent tanners. No more having to wear the tan to bed all night, you can shower & be fresh when you hit the pillow. You will awaken with a gorgeous tan, clean sheets and a happy husband/boyfriend!
6. How long will my tan last?
The colour lasts up to 10 days and exfoliates away naturally with the dead skin cells. Keeping your skin well moisturised will prolong your tan. We recommend using the Naked Tan or Tuscan Tan products (see my products page), as these are specifically created for spray tanned skin.
7. Can pregnant or breastfeeding women be sprayed?
Yes, however if concerned we suggest you seek permission from your doctor. If breastfeeding, make sure nipples are wiped before breastfeeding bub.
8. Do I have to take all of my clothes off?
Absolutely not, clients may wear whatever they feel comfortable in during their session. A client may wear their bikini, underwear, g-string or they can go naked if they wish.
9. When I have my first shower I have noticed some colour washing away?
Yes, this excess colour that is washed away is the bronzer and is perfectly fine. Your natural colour will be developed within the skin cells and will continue to deepen, then last at least a week.
10. How often should I moisturise after being spray tanned?
The more the better! This will ensure your tan fades evenly while keeping your skin well nourished. You will also have a longer lasting tan.
11. Is it best to shave my legs/body parts before or after the tan application?
Best to shave or wax at least 8 hours prior to your spray tan.
12. Can I be sprayed twice in the same day?
Yes, as you can shower 2hrs after your Naked Tan you can continue to spray many times throughout the day which is cutting edge for the body building industry.
13. Does the spray tan get applied to the face?
Yes. A lighter spray is applied to the face to blend the tan and making the tan look natural.
14. Will tanning solution stain my clothes or sheets?
We suggest cotton fabrics, as the bronzer will wash out. Anything synthetic such as silk or rayon will need to be taken to the dry cleaners to be cleaned.
15. Can I wear makeup?
Yes! You have the option with Naked Tan to wear makeup or you can come to the salon fresh faced and in 2HRS when you shower, throw on that gorgeous party dress, hair makeup and out the door you go!
16. Do hot tubs and swimming pools affect a tan?
A tan will not be as lasting if you are soaking for long periods of time as this makes the skin cells exfolliate rapidly and therefore the tan is removed quicker.
17. Are there any harmful chemicals in the tanning solution?
Naked Tan tanning solution is natural, it contains no harsh chemicals, NO PARABENS and NO ALCOHOL. You can feel confident you are being cared for when using Naked Tan.
Tuscan Tan contains a blend of Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to moisturise and protect the skin. It is coconut, caramel and vanilla scented and is completely odourless after application. Tuscan Tan adhere to strict quality and compliance standards to produce their products.
